Lake District: Aira Force Waterfall

The Lake District is full of beautiful sights which only increase in natural beauty if it’s been a while since you’ve left the big smoke. That said, nothin’ beats a pretty waterfall. On my recent visit to the Lake District, we paid Aira Force waterfall (just by the rather stunning Ullswater) a quick visit. Though apparently quite a touristy sight, the waterfall is nestled amongst the trees and is relatively pleasant ‘hike’ up half a dozen flights of stairs. Thankfully, the path to the top is littered…

A Date with the Tate (Modern)

One of the things I love most about London is the plethora of galleries and museums. Not only does it make me feel like I’m perpetually on holidays, but I also feel like I’m doing my brain a favour with a bit of culture every now and then. So when I heard that a Georgia O’Keefe exhibition was coming to town, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to finally pay a visit to the Tate Modern. The exhibition is fantastic: for any art aficionados, you’ll…

What to do in London when…you need a walk

I’m not sure if it’s just a symptom of living in London, or merely apartment life in general, but staying inside all day in London can turn you a bit batty. Sometimes, you just need a walk For all the city’s positives, it has a tendency to get a bit claustrophobic. Whether you were an outdoorsy person before or not, don’t be surprised if you find yourself craving the great outdoors after an extended period visiting or living in the city. Personally, I’ve never been…

London Life Lessons

It’s officially July – how did that happen!? It feels like just yesterday it was Christmas and now we’re less than 6 months away from the next one (terrifying, I know). Good news is that the sun is shining and it’s getting warmer! Bring on summer holidays! Here’s what’s been going on in my world: It’s been all about fitness this past week. Firstly, it’s absolutely delightful to have longer days which, though messing with my sleep patterns, are naturally much more conducive to early morning/post-work…

My 6 Favourite Touristy Things To Do in London

I’m lucky that, thanks to my job, I get to do a lot of unique and exciting things in London. Everything from murder mystery evenings to Taste of London, cocktail making and other assorted and decidedly non-touristy London activities. That said, I’ve also ticked off most of the more typical tourist London activities. Whilst not all of these I’d do again (my patience was truly tested by the queues at the Tower of London…), there’s a few slightly corny, unashamedly touristy things that I still love…

Today I Voted in the EU Referendum

Now, before you get too excited, I’m not about to get all political – because, quite frankly, I have no patience for agenda pushing. But I will say this: gosh, what a time to be in the UK! In case you haven’t heard, today the UK voted in a referendum to answer the deceptively simple question: Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union? I know, right – it’s big stuff. I made the decision to vote…

A Taste of Taste of London

If you like fine dining, fine food and fine company, Taste of London is really one of the best days out you can have in the city. A foodie’s dream, the festival runs for a few days in Regents Park where all the city’s best restaurants assemble to allow you to get a ‘taste’ of their signature dishes. To be honest, it’s actually quite a dangerous event: once you’ve whet your appetite with the delights of Duck & Waffle, or sampled the lovely lamb + mash…

London Life Lessons

There’s nothing like the feeling of a Sunday afternoon, is there? I hope the weekend has been a fun and relaxing one for you as it has been for me. Despite London’s schizophrenic weather suggesting otherwise, summer festivities and fun times are in full swing.  And trust me when I say this, when the sun is shining, there’s few placers nicer to be than London. Here’s what’s going on: Yesterday I uttered the phrase “Oh it’s going to be quite warm – 22 degrees!” to which…
