I discovered the lovely little St. Clements on Instagram one morning and couldn’t believe that it was just down the road from my flat. I really had no choice but to pay it a visit for afternoon tea as soon as possible.
Pretty, bright and opposite the seemingly evergreen Parson Green (how apt its name really is), the café is a little gem. Hidden in plain sight on New Kings Road, it’s a short walk from the tube and nicely removed from the rest of the chaos (well…as close to chaos as one can get in Parsons Green…)
The whole place envelopes you in a cosy pastel colour scheme the moment you walk through the door with beautiful little cakes and sweet treats piled up decadently on the counter. I was overwhelmed by choice and ordered three (!). Seating upstairs is limited but venture downstairs for larger group tables, perfect for sprawling out and spending an extended afternoon tea without being bothered.
En route back to the Tube, it’s worth strolling through the Green and having a quick peek in The French House to admire beautiful French antiques. If only I had the house to go with them!
